Proposals have been developed by the federal government to eliminate four important ministries, but not IT and Telecommunications. The Ministry of IT and Telecom has finished right-sizing, but the government won’t close it.
To be clear, “there is no plan to abolish the ministry,” according to MoITT. The “Committee on the Right Sizing of the Federal Government” is looking for suggestions for right-sizing connected departments.
Reports state that a plan has been prepared to dissolve the ministries of SAFRON, Health, Industries and Production, and Kashmir Affairs.
Before July 30, a final decision about the personnel in these ministries will be made.
A number of proposals have been presented concerning the future of the ministries that have been disbanded. The first recommendation is to provide the impacted workers with a golden handshake gift. An approach would be to incorporate the staff members of the defunct ministries into other ministries.
Sources claim that the idea of adding the impacted personnel of the disbanded ministries to a surplus pool is also being considered.
These suggestions were created by the Institutional Reforms Cell in coordination with the pertinent ministries. The packages to be provided to the impacted employees will be discussed with the IMF.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will be briefed before making a final decision over the proposals pertaining to the staff of the four ministries that are set to be eliminated. According to sources, a definitive decision about the future of the four ministries’ staff and their abolition will be made by July 30.
The Institutional Reforms Cell began working on rightsizing to lower the number of ministries on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s orders. In cooperation with these ministries, the premier had instructed the Institutional Reforms Cell to draft a report on rightsizing in a week.
