The Federal Cabinet has allocated Rs20 billion for Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, a strategic initiative aimed at countering the recent escalation in terrorist activities.
This decision was reached during a cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where key issues related to national security, politics, and the economy were discussed.
Following an in-depth briefing on the deteriorating security situation, the cabinet approved the substantial funding for the counter-terrorism operation, a step previously endorsed by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).
The funding approval comes on the heels of a series of devastating terrorist attacks in Balochistan, which resulted in the deaths of approximately 50 individuals, including both civilians and military personnel.
The attacks, which targeted the Musakhel, Kalat, and Lasbela districts, have sparked widespread concern and demand for action.
In response, security and law enforcement agencies have conducted extensive operations, successfully neutralizing 21 terrorists.
Despite initial reservations from opposition parties, Operation Azm-e-Istehkam received the backing of the National Apex Committee, reflecting a unified stance on addressing the threat of terrorism.
