The Foreign Office (FO) said on Sunday that the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing was assisting with the return of a deceased Pakistani student who was in communication with the university and her relatives while she was studying in China.
In response to social media rumors about the delay in returning a Pakistani student’s mortal remains home, a spokesman for the Foreign Office, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, stated in a statement,
“The procedure is being assisted by the Pakistani Embassy located in Beijing. It is aiming to finish the legal process and make it easier for people to return home by arranging for the next Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft.
According to her, there are legal requirements and laws that must be followed while repatriating deceased individuals from China.
She said that specific preparations, such as embalming the body and transporting the remains in a vehicle designed for cold storage, were necessary for the transit of the remains by commercial aircraft.
Once these arrangements are finished, the deceased corpse can be sent. She stated that the insurance company had consented to compensate the family at the embassy’s insistence, and the university had also volunteered to cover the expense of moving the deceased corpse.
Prior to calling off his five-day visit to China in June, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared that up to 1,000 students would be sent there for advanced agricultural training.
