ISLAMABAD – Preliminary results of the 2024 general elections have begun to emerge from various national and provincial constituencies as the vote count commenced following the conclusion of day-long polling across the country on Thursday.
According to unofficial results, independent candidates (a majority of whom are backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) are leading in most of the national and provincial constituencies across the country followed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is on third place.
The latest data showed that the Independents are head with 87 votes followed by PML-N with 60 and the PPP with 45 in the National Assembly.
The IPP could get only two seats in the National Assembly. In Punjab Assembly, the PML-N is ahead of the independent candidates with 120 votes.
The official results are yet to be announced.
