Pakistan’s most popular mobile wallet provider, EasyPaisa has recently addressed rumors circulating on social media about account closures.
The claims stated that the central bank would block accounts not linked to users’ mobile phone numbers and CNICs (National Identity Cards).
In a statement on its official X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook accounts, EasyPaisa rejected the allegations, confirming that it is not blocking any accounts based on these criteria.
The company reassured its users that their services remain fully operational without any disruptions.
Khurram Zia, Member Director of Net Shell Communications, which handles public relations for EasyPaisa, also dismissed the rumors as misinformation.
He emphasized that neither EasyPaisa nor the central bank has issued any official statement regarding account closures due to unlinked numbers or CNICs. The post quickly went viral, causing concern among users.
