More than 22,000 Pakistanis including prominent politicians, civil and military bureaucrats own billions of rupees worth properties in Dubai.
According to Dubai Unlocked, an investigation project of different media outlets in the world, Pakistanis own properties of more than 12.5 billion dollars in Dubai.
Government authorities, in the past, started efforts to get property data owned by Pakistani nationals from the UAE government, but they never succeed. And mainly it was due to the influence of the country’s powerful ruling elite and also reluctance of the UAE government to share the details with Pakistan.
According to details published by different media outlets, those who own properties in Dubai include children of President Asif Ali Zardari (Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, Aseefa Bhutto Zardari), son of PML-N president Nawaz Sharif (Hussain Nawaz), son of General (rtd) Qamar Javed Bajwa (Saad Siddique Bajwa), wife of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi (Ms Ashraf), Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon, MNA Ikhtiar Baig, Senator Faisal Vawda, PML-N MNA Ehsanul Haq Bajwa, former chief minister of Balochistan Sardar Sanaullah Zehri and BNP president Akhtar Mengal.
Similarly, Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf , former military secretary Lt-Gen Shafaat Ullah Shah, former DG-C Maj Gen (r) Ehtasham Zameer , Lt-Gen Afzal Muzaffar’s son, IGP Azad Jammu and Kashmir Dr Sohail Habib Tajik , former president NBP Arif Usmani, Lt-Gen (r) Muhammad Akram, Lt-Gen Alam Jan Mehsud, Maj Gen (r) Ghazanfar Ali Khan, Major Gen (r) Raja Muhammad Arif Nazir, Air Vice Marshal (r) Saleem Tariq, Air Vice Marshal (r) Khalid Masood Rajput , Major Gen (r) Muhammad Farooq , Major Gen (r) Anis Bajwa’s spouse , Maj Gen (r) Najam-ul-Hassan Shah, Former chairman of OGDCL Zahid Muzaffar and Chairman of the Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST)Syed Anwar-ul Hassan Gillani are also owners of lavish properties in Dubai, according to Dubai Unlocked.
