Former England fast bowler Darren Gough has been named head coach of Lahore Qalandars for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10.
The franchise announced on Wednesday that Darren Gough will be the head coach of Lahore Qalandars for PSL 2025.
Gough, 54, returns to the Qalandars after leading the team to the finals in last year’s Global Super League.
“Our newly appointed Head Coach, Darren Gough 🗣️,” the Lahore Qalandars tweeted on January 9, 2025.
Gough also expressed his excitement about joining the PSL, saying, “The PSL is a fantastic platform with great talent in the Qalandars squad. We aim to compete strongly this season with the support of our fans.”
The veteran of Yorkshire cricket brings extensive experience to the role, having held England’s record for One Day International wickets during his playing career from 1994 to 2006. Following his playing career, he served as England’s bowling consultant in 2020 and later became Yorkshire’s Managing Director of Cricket.
Team Director Sameen Rana “His contributions during the Global Super League showed his deep understanding of the team’s culture,” Rana stated.
This appointment allows Gough ample time to prepare the team ahead of the 2025 PSL season, where Lahore Qalandars will compete against five other franchises in Pakistan’s top cricket league.
