Cricket Australia’s Chief Executive Nick Hockley has stated a strong desire to enable a high-profile tri-series between India and Pakistan.
This move comes as excitement builds for the long-awaited confrontation between two old foes, which has always been a significant draw in the cricketing world.
During an online news conference, Hockley emphasized the enormous excitement around India-Pakistan meetings.
“Pakistan and India are historic rival teams; there is a lot of enthusiasm for their matches,” said the chief executive officer.
He went on to say that Cricket Australia is eager to help organize bilateral and tri-series tournaments with these countries.
We are prepared to help both sides in a bilateral and tri-series, Hockley said, emphasizing the Australian Cricket Board’s willingness to enable these high-stakes matches.
We would be delighted to play a role in the restoration of the Pakistan-India bilateral series, added Hockley, echoing Cricket Australia’s desire to bring these two cricketing heavyweights together on the same ground.
However, he stated that any such plans would need cooperation between the two cricket bodies and governments of India and Pakistan.
The two boards must decide first, and we would help with hosting, he added, adding that official conversations have yet to take place owing to the hectic schedules of the cricket boards involved.
