Ryan Girdusky attacked journalist Mehdi Hasan on “CNN Newsnight with Abby Phillip” which led to Girdusky ban from the network.
This unpleasant incident occurred during the discussing about Donald Trump’s rally at Madison Square Garden. While commenting on the Trump’s rally Girdusky remarked to Hasan, “I hope your beeper doesn’t go off”.
Girdusky made this statement referencing the recent Israeli strikes against Hezbollah, where explosives were detonated in pagers.
Hassan who is a Muslim and supporter of the Palestinians, replied, “Did you just suggest I should die?”
After this hot discussion and Girdusky’s violent remarks, CNN quickly banned the conservative panelist from the network.
CNN issued this statement via Phillip. “There is no tolerance for racism or bigotry at CNN. We promote thoughtful discussions and debates, even between those who have opposing views. However, we will not tolerate disrespect towards guests or allow to cross the lines of the standards of civility. Ryan Girdusky is not welcome back at our network”, statement reads.
After the show Phillip said that she had asked Girdusky to leave the network during a commercial break.
“Girdusky crossed the line and that is unacceptable to me. We encourage discussions where people can disagree. But when the standards of civility are violated, we can’t tolerate”, she stated.
Later Girdusky took to X and reacted to CNN’s decision. “You can stay on CNN if you mention every Republican a Nazi and accept money from Qatar-funded media. You can’t be on CNN if you make a joke. I’m glad that America now can see what CNN stands with”, he wrote.
