Pakistan is set to welcome a new wave of green transportation as Road King, a prominent electric scooter manufacturer in the country, and AGAO Solar Mobility, an innovative Chinese startup specializing in solar-powered vehicles, have forged a preliminary agreement to bring solar e-bikes to the Pakistani market.
These advanced e-bikes are designed with solar panels that convert sunlight into energy, effectively charging the scooter’s battery.
This technology reduces the dependence on conventional electricity sources, offering a sustainable solution for short-distance travel with zero emissions, according to AGAO Solar Mobility.In a recent meeting, representatives from both companies delved into detailed discussions about the Pakistani transportation sector’s needs, emerging product trends, and specific cooperation strategies, as reported by CEN.
The Chinese startup has pledged to support Road King with technical expertise, enhancements in product design, and marketing strategies for the solar e-bikes.
The objective is to collaboratively develop high-quality transportation solutions tailored to the Pakistani market.
The delegation from Road King expressed their commitment to advancing this partnership and introducing solar e-bikes across Pakistan.
They emphasized that the eco-friendly and efficient nature of these e-bikes aligns perfectly with the country’s increasing demand for sustainable transportation options.
Earlier, The federal government earmarked Rs. 4 billion for the promotion of e-bikes and an additional Rs. 2 billion for the nationwide distribution of energy-efficient fans, to address the pressing issue of carbon emissions in the transportation sector and promote energy conservation.
Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, serving as the federal minister of finance and revenue, made this announcement during the unveiling of the Budget 2024–25.
During his address, the Finance Minister emphasized Pakistan’s vulnerability to the adverse impacts of climate change and underscored the government’s commitment to implementing measures aimed at mitigating these effects.
Notably, he highlighted the establishment of the Pakistan Climate Change Authority, tasked with spearheading both adaptation and mitigation efforts.
Furthermore, Senator Aurangzeb revealed plans to finalize a comprehensive National Climate Finance Strategy by October 2024.
This strategy aims to facilitate the mobilization of international climate funds to support Pakistan’s initiatives for carbon emission reduction and climate resilience.
Additionally, he announced the establishment of a national digital climate finance monitoring dashboard to track data on climate finance obtained from international funding sources.
