A child injured in a stampede at the premiere of Pushpa 2 has been declared brain dead.
Previously, on December 4, a woman tragically died in a stampede at Hyderabad’s Scindia Theatre during the premiere of “Pushpa 2” while her young son Sritej was seriously injured.
According to Indian media, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner provided an update on the condition of the injured 9-year-old boy, revealing that he has been declared brain dead.
According to reports, 9-year-old Sritej could not get oxygen due to being trapped in the stampede at Scindia Theatre, which caused severe brain damage.
The Telangana Health Secretary had said that the boy’s condition is being closely monitored and there is still hope for his recovery.
However, according to the latest update on Sritej’s health, he has now been declared brain dead and the child is being treated on a ventilator.
According to the hospital’s medical bulletin, Sritej is still being treated in the pediatric intensive care ward.
Reports said that considering his mental condition, surgery is also being planned to deliver oxygen directly to his lungs through a tube so that his dependence on the ventilator can be gradually reduced.
It may be recalled that Sreejith’s mother, Revathi, lost her life during the stampede at Scindia Theatre, for which a case was registered against Tollywood actor Allu Arjun and two others.
The Pushpa 2 lead actor was later arrested in connection with the incident but was released on Saturday morning. The actor was granted bail after submitting a personal bond of Rs 50,000.
The actor had also announced financial assistance of Rs 25 lakh to the victim’s family and would bear the entire medical expenses of the child.
