Open AI made a big announcement, stating that users no longer need to sign up to use ChatGPT Search.
“ChatGPT Search is now accessible to everyone at chatgpt.com, no sign-up required”, OpenAI announced on X, on Wednesday.
ChatGPT which has made the research work even more easier is updating to align with its users requirements.
This move enables ChatGPT search more closely with traditional search engines like Google, allowing users to quickly get the information without an account.
It is also said that other AI-driven search tools, like Perplexity, will also be updated according to this strategy, enhancing their availability to users.
Earlier OpenAI launched its search engine to paid ChatGPT subscribers in October before expanding access to all users in December. Now, with no account required to use it, ChatGPT Search is set to compete directly with major search engines like Google and Bing.
With this new announcement from OpenAI hints its plan to challenge Google’s dominance in the global search market. However, it seems the company is currently more focused on staying ahead of emerging competitors like DeepSeek.
Over the past week, OpenAI launched an AI agent named Operator, which can autonomously carry out web-based tasks. Another introduced tool was Deep Research, an advanced AI designed for multi-step research projects. Both tools aim to enhance user efficiency and productivity.
