New Zealand has knocked out South Africa in high scoring Semifinal of International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy tournament 2025.
In the second Semifinal of Champions Trophy tournament New Zealand faced South Africa at Gaddafi Stadium.
Winning the toss, New Zealand opted to bat first. Santner at toss showed the hope to take benefit of conditions suited for batting.
The team set the total of 363 runs in 50 overs.
New Zealand batters set the tone since the very beginning.
Rachin Ravindra and Will young have a fiery start.
However, after will young departed, it was Rachin and Williamson who took the game.
Both batters showed skills and made a hundred and sixty-four stand.
Williamson scored Ton on 93 balls, while Rachin scored highly appreciated 108 runs on 101 balls.
Later in the innings, Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Philips scored 49runs each on 37 and 27 balls respectively.
New Zealand were able to set the huge total thanks to their batting line up .
South African pacer did a flop show. Their highly hyped bowling line up failed completely.
All the fast bowlers went 7 and above per over.
In response to the target of 363 runs, South Africa lost the early wicket of Rickelton on 20 runs.
However, Vân Der Dussen and Bavuma tried to stabilize the batting line and build a partnership.
They scored a hundred and five runs partnership before Bavuma gave wicket to Santner.
However, David Miller scored 67 balls hundred but in a losing cause.
His inning was consisted of 10 fours and 4 sixes, however in vain.
He remained not out but the team lost to New Zealand by 50 runs.
