Chahat Fateh Ali Khan has landed in trouble again as a defamation notice of Rs18 million is filed against him for allegedly tarnishing the legacy of the iconic musician Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
A lawsuit emerged against the social media personality, accusing him of damaging the late singer’s reputation and seeking Rs180 million in damages.
Chahat’s residence in the UK received the notice from Mian Muhammad Umair, representing Qaiser Munir Khan. The document demands a response from Chahat within 15 days, threatening legal action if he fails to comply.
The notice accused Chahat of falsely claiming a connection with the renowned artist and undermining his legacy with his performances.
Furthermore, Chahat Fateh Ali Khan is alleged to have infringed copyright laws and offended residents of Faisalabad with his actions.
The notice highlighted the discontent of Faisalabad’s locals, stating, “Chahat’s singing has angered the people of Faisalabad,” reflecting their dissatisfaction with his perceived misrepresentation.
Chahat is also required to issue a public apology on social media within the specified timeframe. Failure to do so could result in a defamation lawsuit, potentially leading to damages of Rs180 million.
