Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Karkar will preside over the meeting of the Council of Common Interest today.
All the caretaker chief ministers will also attend the CCI meeting in Islamabad.
The meeting was called to discuss the economic situation and devise plans.
It would also discuss related issues and challenges, says the government spokesperson.
As Iran has extended the deadline of the Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipelines for another six months, it was also on the agenda, said an official.
Iran said it would move to international arbitration if the government of Pakistan failed to move ahead of the multi-billion project. Tehran stated it would seek a penalty of 80 billion US dollars from Pakistan if Islamabad showed reluctance to complete the project. Iran has already completed the work on the pipeline at its side.
The project was initially linked to three countries Iran, Pakistan and India but it was later altered due to New Delhi’s reluctance to join it.
If completed, the pipeline, carrying natural gas from Iran’s reservoirs, would bring it into Pakistan to meet the energy challenges.
