Canadian government claimed that India’s Home Minister Amit Shah was involved in plans to target Sikh activists within Canada.
According to media reports, Canadian officials claimed that Shah, a close associate of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, started a campaign to threat and harm Sikh separatists in Canada.
Canadian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister David Morrison confirmed to a parliamentary panel that he had submitted a report to the State media that proves Shah’s alleged role in making plots against Sikhs.
Morrison said that the journalist asked him to confirm this report. “I confirmed it was him,” he said.
However Indian government has denied this claim. Neither the High Commission of India in Ottawa nor the Indian foreign ministry has commented on this allegation. But these accusations have put strain on India’s relations with Canada and the U.S.
