Bodies of nine Pakistanis will reach Multan from Iran today, says the foreign office.
Unidentified gunmen killed nine labourers in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchistan province on January 27. Three others sustained injuries in the attack.
The victims belonged to southern Punjab districts and were working in the neighbouring country as auto-mechanics.
The incident occurred two days before the Iranian foreign minister’s visit to Pakistan. Islamabad and Tehran relations faced a setback following a missile attack by the latter inside Pakistan’s territory a few weeks ago.
Pakistan responded to Iran by attacking terrorists’ hideouts in its area the very next day. However, both countries succeed in repairing the ties after a brief rift.
The foreign office posted a tweet on X on Wednesday announcing the bodies of nine Pakistanis would be airlifted today from the Taftan border to Multan.
