PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has claimed that his party would make the next government to form alliance with independent candidates.
In an interview with a foreign news agency, he accused the former prime minister Nawaz Sharif of relying on the powerful military establishment to win the polls, which would be held on February 8.
“He [Nawaz Sharif] is certainly giving an impression that he is not relying on the people of Pakistan.”
Bilawal is continuously criticizing his party’s former ally, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), in election rallies. He claims that Nawaz Sharif, if succeeded in becoming the prime minister, would again start politics of revenge.
The chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party vows that his government would bring about real change, focusing alleviation of poverty and hunger.
Bilawal’s hint at developing an alliance with the independents is towards the candidates of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. The PTI was stripped of its election symbol Bat under a controversial decision of the Supreme Court of Pakistan. And now all its nominations for the national and provincial assemblies are contesting elections as independents.
In the interview, Bilawal said the highest number of people in the history of the country are taking part in the polls as independent candidates and he would prefer to make the alliance with them instead of the PML-N or the PTI.
The 35-year-old Bilawal, if succeeds in the polls, would be the youngest prime minister in the history of the country.
The young chairman is constantly appealing to the youth to vote for his party. The youth make up more than half of the country’s votes and around 60 per cent of the total population. Independent surveys note that the majority of the youth support Imran Khan and his party, the PTI.
