For the first time, Beyoncé received nominations in the Grammy’s country and Americana categories. Previously, Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z tied with 88 Grammy nominations each.
Now the singer holds this record alone. If she wins Album of the Year, she will be the first Black woman to get this award in the 21st century.
Previously, Lauryn Hill won this award for The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill in 1999. After Beyonce, Post Malone holds the second-highest nomination this year. Whereas Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, and Charli XCX, each earned seven nominations this year.
Taylor Swift, along with newcomers Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan, each received six nominations.
Swift’s nomination for The Tortured Poets Department adds to her record-breaking success in the Album of the Year category, where she has won four times.
This year, she also sets a record with seven career nominations in this category, the most for any female artist.
