Bangladesh witnessed masses leading “March for Unity” in the capital city, Dhaka, to commemorate an uprising led by students, on Tuesday.
The movement recently overthrew Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for five months now.
During widespread violent riots following the protest and demonstrations, individuals remembered more than 1,000 people as they had all died.
The Campaign was organized Students Against Discrimination (SAD) with messages of equality as well as Justice. At first, SAD wanted to stage the demonstration demanding changes to Bangladesh’s 1972 constitution.
However, they abandoned the plan after the caretaker government declared on Monday.
The interim government pledged to make announcements about constitutional amendments.
People had gathered to show support for the student-led mass movement. The rally demonstrated how the students’ revolutionary power can create a political environment within the country.
The protesters sought radical reform and long-term solidarity. Many held banners with names of martyrs and slogans of accountability.
It has demonstrated that the young generation does not let go easily while striving for an equal and just Bangladesh.
