Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, daughter of President Asif Ali Zardari, has accused analyst Najam Sethi of fraud in a post on X, formerly Twitter, following his discussion regarding her sister Aseefa Bhutto Zardari’s uncontested victory in NA 207.
During one of his segments, Najam Sethi narrate a story involving Zulifqar Ali Bhutto and his maneuvering of political opponents to step down during the 1977 elections, allegedly to secure an uncontested win.
Sethi then draw a parallel between those events and Aseefa Bhutto’s uncontested victory in the recent by-polls, triggered by her father’s vacated seat upon his presidential election. Out of 11 candidates, three withdrew, and seven nominations were rejected by the Returning Officer (RO).
Sethi insinuated that the decision to let Aseefa win unopposed stemmed from a dismissive attitude towards her candidacy due to her age and the weather conditions, suggesting she would have won regardless.
In response, Bakhtawar Bhutto expressed vehement disagreement, labeling Sethi as a “fraudster” and referencing their family history, stating, “Actually our grandfather had him arrested for being a fraudster and clearly he’s still awfully bitter about it.”
