Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, stated that the main cause of instability in the West Asia region is the involvement of the United States and certain European nations.
Speaking in Tehran on Wednesday to a gathering of top Iranian students and elites, Ayatollah Khamenei remarked that these external powers, despite claiming to promote peace, are the true source of ongoing conflicts, wars, and tensions in the region.
He emphasized that the region would experience peace and security if these foreign actors ceased their harmful activities, allowing local countries to manage their own affairs.
He referenced past events, such as the rise of Saddam Hussein, whose actions, backed by these external forces, led to destructive consequences.
After Saddam’s fall, the same foreign powers abandoned the situation, but Iran and Iraq’s relationship strengthened, notably during events like the Arbaeen pilgrimage.
The Supreme Leader further criticized those who falsely present themselves as champions of peace, stating that they are the primary drivers of regional issues.
Ayatollah Khamenei also expressed deep sorrow over the martyrdom of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah, acknowledging the profound impact of his loss and signaling that he would speak further on Lebanon’s situation in the future.
