Background of the As ma Baloch Incident
The incident took place in the upscale Shahzad City area, adjacent to the N-25 highway in Khuzdar, late Thursday night.
According to police sources, more than a dozen armed men entered the residence of local citizen Inayatullah Jatak in Shahzad City.
The intruders physically assaulted the family members and forcibly took Inayatullah’s daughter, Asma.
Immediately after the incident, on January 6, the victim’s family blocked two locations on the N-25 highway—Jhalawan Sabzi Mandi and Zero Point—bringing traffic to a halt as they staged a protest.
Khuzdar police, under the leadership of SSP Javed Zehri, held multiple negotiations with the protesters, but the talks remained unsuccessful.
According to Balochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rind, police and Levies arrested a suspect during operations to recover Asma in Khuzdar.
Meanwhile, a case was registered against the prime suspect, Zahoor Ahmed, and his accomplices.
A few days after the incident, a joint video of the abducted Asma Baloch and Zahoor Ahmed Jamalzai surfaced.
In the video, Asma Baloch, speaking in the Brahui language, claimed that she was not abducted but had willingly gone with Zahoor Ahmed.
In the same video, Zahoor Ahmed asserted that Asma had called him herself and that she went with him of her own free will.
Responding to this video, Asma’s sister also released a statement, rejecting Zahoor’s claims and criticizing the government and administration for their handling of the case
