Pakistan’s last medal hope at the Paris Olympics, Arshad Nadeem, is set to compete in the javelin throw on Tuesday.
Event organizers have announced the groupings, with Nadeem and India’s Neeraj Chopra placed in Group B.
The javelin throw competitions will occur tomorrow afternoon. Group B includes World No. 5 Edis Matusevičius, World No. 6 Anderson Peters, and Germany’s Max Dehning, who has thrown over 90 meters this season.
The competition in Group B will start at 2:50 PM Pakistan time, with Nadeem scheduled to throw fifth. This year’s qualification standard for the medal round has been raised to a minimum throw of 84 meters.
A total of 12 athletes will qualify for the final round. If fewer than 12 athletes meet the 84-meter mark, those with the best throws will advance. In total, 32 athletes will compete in the javelin throw events, divided into two groups.
