Arshad Nadeem received Pakistan’s second-highest civilian honor, the Hilal-e-Imtiaz, on Thursday, awarded by President Asif Ali Zardari for his historic achievement at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The President presented the award to Nadeem during a ceremony held to honor his outstanding contribution to sports.
On August 10, President Zardari had officially sanctioned the award for the javelin champion under Article 259 (2) of the Constitution, as announced by the President’s Secretariat Press Wing.
This constitutional article allows the president to bestow civil awards on Pakistani citizens for their exceptional services in various fields.
The Hilal-e-Imtiaz is a prestigious award in Pakistan, recognizing significant contributions by both civilians and military personnel.
Arshad Nadeem made history as Pakistan’s first individual gold medalist at the Olympics, setting a new Olympic record with a javelin throw of 92.97 meters at the Paris 2024 games, surpassing the previous record of 90.57 meters set by Norway’s Andreas Thorkildsen at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
