Bollywood actress Ananya Panday’s web series Call Me Bae has been officially renewed for a second season after the successful reception of its debut season.
Both Amazon Prime Video and Ananya Panday took to Instagram to share the news, posting: “Our day couldn’t get any better. Bella is back with a new season to steal our hearts again.”
The creators of Call Me Bae confirmed that the second season is already in progress, with Ananya Panday reprising her role as Bella. The first season, directed by Colin D’Cunha, follows the life of Bella, a wealthy heiress whose world turns upside down when her family disowns her.
The plot centers on Bella’s journey of self-discovery as she learns to stand on her own and become self-reliant.
The series, written by Ishita Moitra, Rohit Nair, and Samina Motlekar, features a cast of prominent actors including Gurfateh Pirzada, Muskkaan Jaferi, Vir Das, and Sayani Gupta.
Co-produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, Call Me Bae has garnered attention for its strong themes of personal growth and empowerment.
In a previous interview, Ananya Panday reflected on her role, emphasizing how the series aligns with her values on women’s empowerment and the #MeToo movement.
“Without giving away spoilers, the show touches on issues that stand up for women, which is something I may not always be able to speak about directly. But if I can raise awareness through my work, it’s impactful,” she said.
The actress also highlighted the importance of selecting roles that resonate with her beliefs.
“As an actor, I choose projects that reflect my values. I know the influence media has on people, and it’s important to be mindful of the messages we send,” she added.
