Rail services between Hyderabad and Karachi were momentarily interrupted on Saturday after a bogie of the Allama Iqbal Express derailed close to Kotri railway station, according to officials.
According to Express News, a technical issue on the train, which was traveling from Lahore to Karachi, caused its final carriage to separate and fall off the track close to Kotri.
There were no recorded casualties.
Additionally, the impacted bogie was isolated from the remainder of the train.
Railway officials started restoration work right away, repairing the coupling system and reattaching the bogie.
The down track has been impacted by the incident,” a railway spokesperson said.
“Trains travelling from Hyderabad to Kotri have been halted in Hyderabad as a precautionary measure.”
Repair work is expected to take two to three hours. Train services on the route will resume once safety inspections are completed.
Yetserday, Pakistan Railways announced the introduced high-speed and comfortable diesel multiple unit trains.
In a briefing to Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi, the railways officials told that the trains were designed to run with the speed of 160-kilometre per hour.
The trains will run between Rawalpindi, Lala Musa, and Lahore.
Multiple trains and diesel can carry up to 380 passengers at once. The public-private cooperation is the foundation of the project. The railroads will guarantee efficient operation and monitoring.
