What is BTS?
The Bangtan Sonyeondan aka BTS which translates as Bulletproof boys scout is a well known and notorious name. With 7 boys started from a very low place and became a world wide popular k pop band is quite hard to believe but yes, its true! BTS started from a music company big hit and now you will find no one who didn’t hear the name of BTS once in their life. But how they made it? Their journey from a band to solo and how these teenagers once and now grown man made it this far. Let’s dive in!
The Early Days
BTS was auditioned by Big Hit Entertainment and now a Hybe corporation in 2010 with officially on stage in 2013. Consisting of seven members, Rm or rap monster (Kim Nam joon), Jin ( Kim seok jin), Suga (Min yoon gi), J-Hope (Jung ho seok), Jimin (Park ji min ), V (Kim Tae hyung) and Jungkook (Jeon Jung Kook). At first BTS was designed to create hip hop, but as fame knocked on their gate they started working on many genre like pop, EDM AND R&B while maintaining their original lyrical focus on social issues, mental health and more importantly self love.
The debut album, 2 cool 4 skool was released on June 13, 2013 with the sing cleaving sky “No more dreams”. Despite all the talent and energy, they still faced challenges breaking into highly competitive K pop industry. Their authentic and full of challenges storytelling soon started attracting fans which not only were for one song but they became loyal and are now known as ARMY (Adorable representative MC for youth).
The Rise to Stardom
The journey of success started with their The most beautiful moment in life series, the album was rich of many topics like youth, love and individual’s own struggles. Song like “I need u” and “run” proved to be the one which brought them widespread recognition not just in south Korean but other countries too. Their album in 2016 proved to be a turning point. The single song “blood sweat and tears” became a hit and it grasped the hand of BTS and take them to the sky, they became a global name. In 2017, their love yourself series enhanced the fandom and the fame just kissed their feet. Albums like “love yourself” “tear and love yourself” answer debuted at NO.1 on the billboard 200, making BTS the first Korean band to achieve such a milestone. But the songs didn’t stop, from “DNA” to “Fake love” and then “Idol” They kept on evolving and their message of self love deeply reached the hearts of the fans worldwide.
Breaking Barriers and Global Impact
BTS didn’t just remained singers and make music but they broke records by becoming the first Korean group to perform the American Musical Awards and then Grammys, after that they addressed nations with “love myself” campaign. In 202, Their just a single song, not an album “Dynamite” hit the billboards Hot 100 and releases like “Butter” and “Permission to dance” just cemented their global dominance but BTS didn’t stop here. They were recognized as cultural ambassadors, were named TIME’s entertainer of the year in 2020 and collaborated with UNICEF to promote social changes.
The Transition to Solo Careers
Sadly in 2022, BTS had to separate, fulfilled their military services which are necessary for every male in south Korea and Jin became the first to enlist. But then each member explored their artistic individuality through going solo.
RM, known as rap monster and also for his thoughtful lyricism, released solo albums like Mono and Indigo. Jin charmed fans with single songs like “The astronaut” and its lyrics just blended with ARMY’s hearts. Suga, with a new name Agust D, also released hit like “Daechwita” which was a mix of his personal struggles.
J-Hope known as sunshine for ARMY broke records with “Jack in the Box” which revealed his talents like rapping, singing and dancing. Jimin being the member with most delicate voice, his solo work was with being emotional was also a work of best art, his solo album “Face” and songs like “Filter” and “serendipity” which though weren’t part of his album but sung alone were masterpieces.
V, the vocalist and also the most charming one among the band according to the fans, was seen promoting soulful and unique tracks with songs like “Inner child” “winter bear” his solo work was already recognized enough. Jungkook the youngest and the most talented one, embraced his global appeal with album “Golden” and songs like “Seven” and “ 3D”, some song like “Still with you” being the hit one.
BTS: Together and Apart
Solo careers though polished every member in their own way, it didn’t break the bond they had. A bong build over years of shared experience and challenges, glued them together. They assured ARMY that they will reunite once all members have completed their military service and ARMY proved themselves as the most understanding and patient fandom.
BTS Legacy and Future
BTS’s journey from just a small agency to global stars is just amazing, their fame came with AMRY’s support and their individual work cemented their position. One thing is certain, BTS has redefined what it means to be an artist in 21 century and their story inspired many to hold on to life, brought them back from darkness and hold them until they find their purpose.
