Pakistani pop sensation Ali Zafar has set a new benchmark in the nation’s music scene by launching the first-ever AI-created music video in Pakistan.
Titled “Rang Rasiya,” the video has received widespread praise on social media for its inventive use of artificial intelligence in visual storytelling.
The video showcases the song “Rang Rasiya,” performed by Nirmala, a rising star from Umerkot, Tharparkar.
Despite overcoming numerous challenges, Nirmala’s relentless pursuit of her passion and her journey from a remote desert region to the limelight of Pakistani music is poignantly portrayed in the video.
Ali Zafar, celebrated for his artistic endeavors and contributions to the music industry, introduced the sophisticated video on social media. The AI-driven visuals depict a beautiful Sindhi woman, dressed as a bride, journeying through a captivating mix of water and desert landscapes.
The visuals contrast traditional elements with modernity, symbolizing the dual aspects of Nirmala’s life and dreams.
In a detailed post accompanying the video, Zafar shared the project’s backstory. He revealed that he first learned about Nirmala through a WhatsApp demo sent by Pakistani socialite Mian Yousuf Salahuddin. Zafar expressed his admiration for Nirmala’s voice and her determination to pursue music despite the social and cultural obstacles she faces.
“Years ago, I was deeply moved by Nirmala’s talent and story when I first heard her demo,” Zafar wrote. “Her commitment to her passion, despite the lack of basic facilities and societal pressures, inspired me to support her by recording, producing, and releasing her song.”
Zafar also discussed how his early interest in digital art influenced the music video’s creation. He reflected on how technology has evolved since his college days but noted that the essence of artistic exploration remains unchanged. He highlighted that working with AI during the video production was both challenging and enlightening.
“Every frame created with AI demanded meticulous attention and numerous revisions,” Zafar said. “It was a painstaking process, but the outcome was worth it. AI offers an exciting new frontier in the art world, and I’m thrilled to showcase Nirmala’s talent through this innovative medium.”
