According to the most recent Brand Finance 2024 Global Top 250 Hospitals study, the Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH), situated in Karachi, has accomplished a noteworthy milestone by earning a spot among the top 100 Academic Medical Centres (AMCs) worldwide.
Alongside other esteemed establishments like Mayo Hospital, Jinnah Hospital, Combined Military Hospital, and University Dental Hospital, which have all achieved a spot on the 250-list, AKUH has achieved the esteemed 85th rank in this ranking.
Prestigious American hospitals have taken the top two spots in the global AMC rating, while an Indian hospital came in third.
Three Indian hospitals are noteworthy for being ranked in the top 100 overall.
As the only hospital in Pakistan to receive accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI), one of the world’s foremost organisations for hospital accreditation, AKUH is a shining example of superior healthcare practices.
This is the second time that AMCs have been assessed and ranked internationally by Brand Finance, the company that creates these rankings.
The renowned US hospitals Mayo Clinic and Massachusetts General Hospital are currently among the top-ranking AMCs; Aiims, an Indian institution, comes in third, and Singapore General Hospital, fourth.
AKUH’s standing has also been significantly bolstered by the availability of skilled and sympathetic medical staff, a handy and accessible location, a broad range of medical specialisations, and programmes that prioritise affordability through service discounts and financial aid.
