The MRCP (UK) Part 2 Clinical Examination (PACES) has approved Aga Khan University (AKU) as an official testing location.
This prestigious award, given by the UK’s Royal Colleges of Physicians (RCP), emphasizes AKU’s superiority in medical education and evaluation in the area.
AKU’s Centre for Innovation in Medical Education (CIME) administered a “Pathfinder” practice PACES test as part of the accreditation procedure.
The center’s sophisticated simulation infrastructure, examiner expertise, and operational effectiveness were assessed during this study. The exercise, which was carried out in collaboration with Aga Khan University Medical College, verified that the university satisfies the strict international requirements for administering such important tests.
Dr. Faisal Ismail, Regional Director of CIME, South Asia, said, “This is great news for AKU and for aspiring medical professionals in Pakistan.”
“We not only show that we can administer assessments at an international level by holding the MRCP (UK) PACES exam at CIME, but we also make it easier for local candidates to obtain internationally recognized credentials.”
Furthermore, the RCP in the UK certified 14 faculty members from AKU’s Medical College as MRCP (UK) PACES examiners, highlighting the outstanding caliber of AKU’s faculty and bolstering the university’s ability to administer prestigious clinical exams.
In August 2025, AKU-CIME will host the first MRCP(UK) PACES exam, providing applicants from Pakistan and the surrounding areas with an affordable and convenient option that eliminates the hassle of traveling overseas for the test.
