Hunter Schafer, a prominent 25-year-old actress known for her roles in “Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” was arrested at a pro-Palestine protest in New York City, reported The Independent.
Schafer joined the demonstration organized by Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP), a Jewish-led anti-Zionist organization, aiming to disrupt President Joe Biden’s appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” The protest’s core purpose was to advocate for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip amidst ongoing Israeli airstrikes.
According to reports, Schafer and roughly 50 other protesters were detained at the NBC headquarters in Rockefeller Center. A JVP spokesperson commended Schafer’s unwavering commitment to Palestinian freedom and a future of justice and equality for all.
During the protest, Schafer donned a t-shirt advocating for a ceasefire. Videos and photographs from the event depict Schafer and fellow demonstrators chanting powerful slogans demanding an end to the violence and criticizing Biden’s foreign policy. Their chants denounced the ongoing humanitarian crisis and pushed for a stronger stance on achieving a ceasefire.
Protesters, including Schafer, raised banners with messages like “Jews to Biden – Stop Arming Genocide,” highlighting their criticism of the U.S. government’s support for Israel’s actions.

JVP, self-described as the “largest progressive Jewish anti-Zionist organization in the world,” emphasizes solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for self-determination on its website. Rooted in principles of justice, equality, and dignity for all, JVP aims to inspire a diverse coalition of individuals to advocate for systemic change.
Schafer’s arrest sparks a conversation about the growing intersection of celebrity activism and social justice movements. Her involvement amplifies the voices of Palestinians yearning for peace and underscores the importance of using one’s platform to champion social change and advocate for human rights.
