RAWALPINDI: The multinational military exercise, the 7th Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) Exercise-2024, wrapped up with a remarkable closing ceremony at Kharian Garrison on Thursday. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir graced the event as the chief guest, and the ceremony marked the conclusion of the 60-hour rigorous “Patrolling Exercise.”
When and Where Did PATS Take Place?
The exercise, held from February 25 to 27, took place in the semi-mountainous terrain of Punjab province, Pakistan. Seven teams from the Pakistan Army and fifteen teams from friendly countries participated, including Bahrain, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Maldives, Morocco, Qatar, United States of America, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Turkey. Observers from Azerbaijan, China, Germany, Indonesia, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Myanmar were also present.
The “Patrolling Exercise” aimed at enhancing combat skills through the exchange of innovative ideas and experiences among the participating teams. Over the years, PATS has gained prominence as a highly competitive professional military activity for friendly countries.
Addressing the ceremony, COAS General Syed Asim Munir commended the participating teams for their professionalism, physical and mental endurance, and high morale displayed during various stages of the exercise. He emphasized the importance of mutual learning during such exercises and highlighted that PATS provides a platform to combine professional military skills and tactical acumen, fostering much-needed team spirit in the face of evolving warfare.

The COAS underscored the Pakistan Army’s rich attributes of “character, courage, and competence,” prominently displayed in the fight against terrorism. At the conclusion, individual and team awards were presented to the exercise participants. International observers and Defense Attachés from participating countries attended the ceremony, lauding its professional conduct.

Upon arrival, COAS General Syed Asim Munir was received by the Commander Mangla Corps. The successful conclusion of the 7th PATS Exercise-2024 signifies the continued commitment of Pakistan and its allies to enhance military capabilities and cooperation in the ever-evolving landscape of global security challenges.
