In a leap leading towards a diverse and modern twist on pageant rules, an Iranian-born architect took home the crown and become Miss Germany 2024.
The pageant winner, Apameh Schönauer, 39, transcended the boundaries of beauty pageants that heavily focus on the physical appearance and never really budge when it comes to representation of a certain ethnicity or nationality.
Miss Germany 2024
Becoming Miss Germany 2024 despite having Iranian roots makes Apameh set the precedent for the future of beauty contests to be lenient and more welcoming by being inclusive and allowing representation on a global scale.
Although Apameh shines on the top, as of now, her journey to the pinnacle of the contest was, by no means, easy. Competing against eight other contestants in the competition where approximately 15,000 applications were registered, Apameh’s victory at Europa Park serves as a testament for the bright future of beauty pageants.
Taking to Instagram to share her memorable win, Apameh wrote, “Pure goosebumps! The first emotions of the new Miss Germany 2024. I can hardly believe it, I am overwhelmed and endlessly grateful”

“Pictures say more than a thousand words!” she wrote in another post’s caption.

With her win, Apameh now focuses on empowering immigrant women, especially from Iran. Working with Shirzan Lion Woman network, Apameh paves the way for future contestants to contribute more than their looks to the competition, and the society overall.
