Murad Ali Shah, a prominent leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has secured his position as Sindh chief minister for the third consecutive term.
The Sindh Assembly witnessed a spirited session as the election unfolded, with Shah emerging as the 25th leader of the House with an impressive 112 votes. His opponent, Ali Khursheedi from MQM-Pakistan, managed only 36 votes.
The hall reverberated with pro-PPP slogans, marking Murad’s election with a two-thirds majority for the first time. In a total assembly count of 148 members, the proceedings were boycotted by nine PTI-backed members and one from Jamaat-e-Islami, creating an air of political tension.
