The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) declared on Thursday that free tickets for the HBL PSL 9 will be not given away and its hospitality (special) box offerings would be discontinued.
The decision is made in response to a number of PCB guidelines, some of which deal with the sale of VIP box tickets for Pakistan Super League Season 9 matches that are still to come.
Reputable sources claim that PCB has ended its long-standing policy of giving out free tickets to every game of the forthcoming season by taking a hard stand against the selling of VIP box seats.
The PCB’s move has led to savings of about 25 crores, mostly because of improved security and simpler administrative processes.
There had been conflict between the Punjab administration and PCB last season over the distribution of free tickets.
According to reports in local media, Chairman Mohsin Naqvi promised to pay for the costs of furnishing and decorating his office himself as a sign of responsibility and financial soundness.
As all is going on, plans are being made to decorate the Chairman’s office at the renowned Gaddafi Stadium, which would completely change the way Pakistan cricket is run administratively.
