Acclaimed interior designer Gauri Khan took on a new venture last week, unveiling her stunning restaurant, “Torii Mumbai,” to the world. Instagram became a window into its luxurious interiors, captivating audiences with a glimpse of its opulent design.
One photo showcased Gauri herself, resplendent in a midnight blue gown, posing at the restaurant’s entrance. Another offered a tantalizing peek into the vibrant ambience, awash in a striking tapestry of gold, red, and green hues. These weren’t just colours; they were a testament to Gauri’s signature design sensibilities.
“My first venture into hospitality – Torii Mumbai,” Gauri declared on Instagram, inviting everyone to “immerse yourself in luxury and warmth.” The stunning gold accents, vibrant lighting, and rich reds and greens promised an unforgettable experience. Her infectious smile during the restaurant’s official unveiling earlier in the week further emphasized her excitement about this new chapter.
But Torii isn’t Gauri’s first foray into the culinary world. Her creative touch has already graced renowned establishments like Arth and Sanchos. As the owner of Gauri Khan Designs, she has transformed countless suburban Mumbai restaurants and celebrity homes over the years, earning accolades for her artistic flair. Her name resonates not only in design but also in Bollywood, where she has designed homes for A-listers like Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar, and Malaika Arora. Beyond design, Gauri is a successful film producer, demonstrating her diverse talents. The personal side of her journey is equally inspiring. Married to superstar Shah Rukh Khan since 1991, they have built a beautiful family. Their eldest son, Aryan (26), launched a fashion brand, while daughter Suhana made her acting debut in Zoya Akhtar’s “The Archies.” Their youngest, AbRam, attends school in Mumbai.
