LAHORE/DG KHAN: The police on Wednesday foiled an infiltration attempt by terrorists in the Taunsa area of DG Khan along the border with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“As many as 8-10 terrorists attacked Jhangi police post in Taunsa area Dera Ghazi Khan, the bordering area with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” Punjab Inspector General of Police Usman Anwar said in a video message on Wednesday. He said the terrorists, belong an outlawed organization attacked the police post and attempted to infiltrate Punjab.
“The policemen deployed, however, responded strongly and repulsed the attack, forcing the terrorists to retreat”, the IG Police informed.
“Policemen at Jhangi Police Post spotted the terrorists’ movement with the help of advanced thermal image cameras and took timely action, forcing the terrorists with heavy firing to retreat”, the IG Police said in the message.
Meanwhile, the Khorasan Diary, a journalists-run platform, sharing real-time information and analysis, in a post on X (erstwhile Twitter), said that “Unidentified militants attacked Jhangi check-post in the area of Vehova police station, district Taunsa Sharif Dera Ghazi Khan, Punjab last night around 02:30 am.”
It is said: “10-15 militants affiliated with Ustarana group of TTP attacked the check-post at the border of Punjab and KP. Cops retaliated with full force after which militants managed to escape. No loss of life reported: Station House Officer (SHO) Vehova.

‘No schools closure’
Meanwhile in another video message, IG Police Dr Usman Anwar said that he has not received instructions to close any education institution – school or college, nor there is any security threat to educational institutions.
“This is fake news and misuse of social media,” he stated, urging citizens to ignore all such ‘rumours’.
Dr Usman informed the police were fully providing security to all schools and colleges. “Action will also be taken against those misusing social media and spreading rumors,” the IG Police warned.
