A viral video was posted on X claiming that Mexico closes border with US. The closure was in response to Tariffs by US.
However, the claim turned out to be false as Mexico hasn’t taken any Official retaliatory step.
On Wednesday Vice President JD Vance made a visit to US -Mexico border.
He said on the occasion that arrests for illegal immigration had gone down sharply.
Vance was accompanied by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on the helicopter tour of the area.
He also toured a Border Patrol facility and sat for a roundtable with Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and national, state and local officials.
Vance highlighted the arrests for illegal immigrants falling 39% in January from December.
The numbers went down sharply since the Republican Trump took to the office.
“President Trump has empowered and in fact demanded that his whole government take the task of border control seriously, “Vance said.
The Trump administration took a strict stance on immigration by deporting immigrants on U.S. military planes, with some individuals being shackled during the flights.
“The border crisis has become a matter of national intelligence and it’s also become something that requires that Department of Defense to engage,” Vance said.
