President of United States Donald Trump on Tuesday told his plans of selling a” gold card” to wealthy foreigners.
This will give them the right to live and work in US thus giving them a path to enjoy the perks of US citizenship. In exchange they will pay a heavy fee 5million dollars.
“We are going to be selling a gold card, “Trump told the press from oval office.
“You have a green card. This is a gold card. We’re going to be putting a price on that card of about $5 million and that’s going to give you green card privileges, plus it’s going to be a route to citizenship. And wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this card, “Trump added.
Donald Trump gold card sale will start in two weeks and expected millions of sales to such card.
When asked about the possibility of selling the gold cards to Russian oligarchs, he responded: “yeah , possibly. I know some of Russian oligarchs that are very nice people.”
EB-5 immigrants investor program:
Furthermore, Commerce secretary Howard Lutnik added that trump gold card will replace the government’s EB-5 immigrants investor program.
The old policy which allows foreign investors to thrash money into US projects that will create jobs and then apply for immigrant Visa.
“They will have to go through vetting, of course, “he said, “to make sure they’re wonderful world class global citizens.”
EB-5 was the program established in 1992 that grant green cards to immigrants who make a investment of least $1050000 or $800000 in targeted employment areas.
Moreover, Trump administration in 2019 moved to increase the minimum investment amount for economic areas, however a federal judge struck down the change.
In 2022, Biden administration renewed it, and raised the minimum amount to current level.
