Section 144 imposed across the province by The Punjab government after Home Department has issued a notification, on Saturday.
On February 8, Saturday the government of Punjab issued the notification to impose Section 144 across the province.
According to the notification, all political protests, gatherings, rallies, and sit-ins will be banned across Punjab on February 8.

Punjab Home Department spokesperson said that the decision to enforce Section 144 was taken in order to preserve law. Moreover, order installation is also important to safeguard lives and property.
Public gatherings and sit-ins would become vulnerable to terrorist attacks due to security threats.
Whereas, the authorities fear that miscreants may exploit the protests to engage in anti-state activities.
The decision to impose Section 144 was made based on recommendations from the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order and the Provincial Intelligence Committee.

PTI Declares February 8 as “Black Day”
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called for a “Black Day” on February 8.
PTI Punjab’s Chief Organizer, Alia Hamza, has issued directives to National and Provincial Assembly members.
She urged all party leaders to hold peaceful protests in their constituencies against electoral rigging.
She stated that PTI is a responsible political party and that protesting is their constitutional and legal right.
