Lay's classic chips recalled in two states

Frito-Lay has recalled its Lay’s Classic Chips in two states, Washington and Oregon due to the possible inclusion of undeclared milk, which could be harmful for individuals with a milk allergy.

Frito-Lay became aware of the undeclared milk issue after receiving a complaint from a customer. Over the complain Food and Drug Administration (FDA) addressed the issue.

Later the FDA announced the recall in December, affecting a limited number of 13 oz. bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips.

The FDA warned that consuming the affected chips could lead to a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction for those with milk allergies. Exposure to milk can cause symptoms such as hives, cramps, dizziness, throat swelling, or even loss of consciousness.

These chips, which could have been purchased in Oregon and Washington as early as November 3, were distributed through certain retail outlets and e-commerce platforms.

FDA also warns consumers who possess Lay’s chips with a “guaranteed fresh” date of February 11 and a manufacturing code of either “6463307xx” or “6462307xx” to waste the product immediately, especially if there is anyone in the household with a milk allergy.

It is worth noting that the recall is not for other Lay’s products, flavors, sizes, or variety packs.
