ICC (International Cricket Council) Chief Executive Geoff Allardice has offered his resignation and the council has confirmed it, on Tuesday.
Allardice joined the ICC in 2012 as general manager of cricket following a stint as cricket operations manager at Cricket Australia (CA).
He served as acting Chief Executive officer for a period of 8 months before becoming the Chief Executive officer of the ICC in November 2021.
Jay Shah, the ICC’s Chair, expressed gratitude for Allardice’s contributions.
Representing the ICC’s Board, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Geoff for his leadership and commitment over the years.
His work has been of great benefit to the game of cricket worldwide. We thank him for his service, and hope him the best in all his future positions, Shah said.
Speaking on his time in office, Geoff Allardice said, “It has been a privilege to serve as the ICC Chief Executive Officer.
I am immensely proud of our accomplishments, from expanding cricket’s global reach to strengthening its commercial foundation for ICC’s Members.”
He also expressed his thanks to the ICC president, the board of directors, and the community of cricket for the cooperation.
The help I’ve been provided over the past 13 years has been phenomenal. By this time, it’s the right time to go aside and find new challenges, anyway,” he said.
Allardice predicted a positive outcome for the future of cricket, saying, “I think the future looks bright for cricket.
I hope the ICC and the cricket world have every success ahead.
The ICC board has now stated that the process of finding an appropriate successor will commence immediately for Allardice.
Moreover, his work as the head was very much responsible for the direction that he craved out global in his time as such.
