Large-scale military operation set to start in Kurram, amid escalating tensions in the region.
The Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is gearing up for a major military operation targeting terrorists particularly in Lower Kurram.
This decision by the KP government followed by the recent attacks on the aid convoy on its route to Parachinar.
In this attack 14 lost their lives, involving security personnel and civilians, and left several injured.
Previously, on January 4, a government convoy was attacked near Bagan, injuring Kurram’s deputy commissioner and leaving the convoy stranded.
All these attacks, violating the Kurram peace agreement, have prompted officials to take strict action against these terrorist activities.
In preparation for the military operation, the district administration has announced the setup of Temporary Displacement Camps (TDPs) to shelter those affected by the conflict.
These developments have underscored the critical need for a strong military response and immediate relief measures.
Deputy Commissioner Gohar Zaman Wazir issued directives to establish TDP camps across Lower Kurram to ensure the safety and welfare of displaced families during the counter-terrorism operation.
The designated sites for these camps include the Government Boys Degree College in Tal, the Government Technical College, the Rescue 1122 compound, and an under-construction judicial building.
The district administration has sought assistance from the provincial relief department, while a committee led by the Additional Deputy Commissioner will oversee logistics and ensure proper support for displaced individuals during the military operation.
