Former Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has recently come under scrutiny following the DG ISPR’s comments about the return of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) members to the country.
Renowned journalist Zahid Gishkori has now disclosed that General Bajwa is reportedly under restrictions that limit his ability to interact with others.
Gishkori revealed that the retired General has been instructed to avoid meeting people, suggesting he lacks the necessary authorization for such engagements.
Interestingly, while retired military chiefs in Pakistan are generally subject to a two-year restriction period post-retirement, Bajwa’s specified period has already elapsed.
In a related development, Omar Ayub Khan, a senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, has accused General Bajwa of initiating talks with the TTP.
Addressing the DG ISPR’s remarks, Ayub posted on X (formerly Twitter) that it was Bajwa who advocated negotiations with the TTP, emphasizing a statement made during a 2021 National Security Committee (NSC) meeting. According to Ayub, Bajwa asserted that “all conflicts ultimately end through dialogue,” a sentiment reportedly shared with senior political leaders and parliamentarians from various parties, including PTI, PPP, and PML-N.
