A Rawalpindi anti-terrorism court, on Saturday, has approved interim bail for Bushra Bibi in connection with 32 cases.
The court proceedings addressed charges against the former first lady tied to demonstrations conducted between November 24 and November 27.
She has been granted bail until January 13, 2025.
Bushra Bibi’s lawyer, Muhammad Faisal Malik, submitted bail requests for all the cases.
He prompted the court to summon investigative officers to present case details.
The court extended special permissions for Bushra Bibi’s vehicle to access the premises.
Several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, including Simabiah Tahir, attended to show solidarity.
Defence attorney Faisal Chaudhry was also present during the proceedings.
Judge Amjad Ali Shah ultimately granted her bail, allowing her to depart from the court without detention.
Later, the judge is expected to visit Adiala Jail for a separate case hearing concerning the GHQ attack.
Updates on Toshakhana case:
Earlier on 12th December, a special court in Islamabad formally charged former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife in the Toshakhana case.
The indictment, overseen by Judge Shahrukh Arjumand, took place at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail.
Initially investigated by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the Toshakhana case was later transferred to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after changes to NAB laws.
The FIA submitted its findings in September, accusing the couple of causing financial losses to the state by unlawfully selling state gifts.
Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were first arrested in connection with the case on July 13.
While Bushra Bibi was granted bail and released in October, Khan remains in custody due to other ongoing legal matter.
Imran Khan is currently facing a staggering 188 cases, while Bushra Bibi risks re-arrest after missing hearings.
The couple’s legal troubles are part of broader allegations against Khan, including 99 cases in Punjab, 76 in Islamabad, and additional cases filed by the FIA and NAB.
