Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is progressing towards the restoration of its network and has resumed flights from Karachi to Turbat.
According to the PIA spokesperson, the national airline has added flights from Karachi to Turbat to its schedule starting from December 10, 2024.
PIA will operate two weekly flights on Mondays and Wednesdays.
The spokesperson stated that PIA is strengthening its operations for Turbat and Gawadar.
The PIA spokesperson further mentioned that the resumption of flights to Turbat will significantly support projects under the CPEC(China-Pakistan Economic Corridor), which are crucial for the country’s economy.
Earlier, after announcing the restoration of flights to Europe, PIA scheduled its first flight from Islamabad to Paris on January 10, 2025.
The spokesperson shared that, initially, two weekly flights will be operated for Europe, on Fridays and Sundays, with plans to gradually increase the frequency.
The Pakistan government has announced the sale of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) business unit, the Precision Engineering Complex (PEC), to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) for an initial cash installment of Rs 2.5 billion.
PEC, a PIA subsidiary, specializes in manufacturing high-precision components for the aerospace and other industries. According to a senior government official, PEC’s total valuation is Rs6.5 billion, which includes Rs4 billion in pension-related liabilities for current and retired employees.
