The total number of legal cases filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has surged to 186, with most of the cases originating in Punjab. This follows PTI’s protest on November 24.
A day prior, a report submitted by the interior secretary to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) revealed that 14 additional cases have been lodged against Imran Khan in Islamabad, raising the number of cases in the federal capital from 62 to 76.
Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir presided over the hearing of a petition filed by Noreen Niazi, Imran Khan’s sister, seeking comprehensive details about the legal proceedings involving her brother.
In response to the court’s directives, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) provided information regarding the cases. The interior secretary also presented details about cases registered in other provinces.
According to the report, 99 cases have been filed in Punjab and 2 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Additionally, the former prime minister is implicated in 7 cases under the FIA, 3 by NAB, and one related to the Toshakhana reference.
This growing list of legal challenges underscores the intensifying scrutiny of the PTI chairman amid ongoing political tensions.
