In yet another setback for the hosts, Australia’s Josh Hazlewood, a fast bowler, has been ruled out of the second test match against India in Adelaide due to a low-grade side ailment.
Australia lost 1-0 in the five-match series after being crushed by 295 runs in the first test in Perth, where Hazlewood claimed five wickets.
Although Scott Boland is most likely to replace Hazlewood, Cricket Australia announced that Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett have been added to the team for the day-night test at Adelaide Oval, which begins on December 6.
All-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who bowled 17 overs in Perth before pulling up sore, is another injury issue for Australia.
Two days earlier, Marsh was covered by uncapped all-rounder Beau Webster, who had been asked into the squad.
Cameron Green, Australia’s regular all-rounder, was already out for the series after deciding to have surgery for a lumbar spine stress fracture.
The second test match between the two teams will begin on December 6. It will be a day and night test match, with the pink ball.
India now leads the five-match test series 1-0 following a clinical performance with both bat and ball in the opening match.
