Pakistan defeated Zimbabwe by 99 runs in the third and final One Day International (ODI) on Thursday at the Queens Sports Club.
Despite a heroic half-century from skipper Craig Ervine, Zimbabwe failed to reach the difficult goal of 304, achieving just 204.
After dropping two fast wickets in the first three overs, the hosts were reduced to 10/2.
After that, Ervine steadied the innings by partnering with Tadiwanashe Marumani for a cautious 39 runs, which ended when Marumani was removed in the ninth over.
Before being removed by Aamir Jamal in the 26th over, Ervine maintained his lead by scoring 41 runs for the fourth wicket with Sean Williams.
Hitting 51 off 63 balls, including five fours and a six, Ervine led Zimbabwe in scoring.
Brian Bennett, who scored 37 off 27 balls, temporarily defied Pakistan’s methodical bowling attack, but his efforts were not enough to shift the balance in Zimbabwe’s favor.
Abrar Ahmed, Aamir Jamal, Haris Rauf, and Saim Ayub all got two wickets for Pakistan, while Kamran and Faisal Akram each took one.
Pakistan had earlier given Zimbabwe a target of 304 runs after winning the toss. In their match against Zimbabwe, Pakistan achieved a competitive goal thanks to Kamran Ghulam’s first ODI century.
